Healing through Art
Radwa Sheeded
After she got the M.Sc. in physics, The American University in Cairo, 2018, she has started to learn art therapy and practice it. In 2020 she completed the two years program “Using Art in Education and Therapeutic Context” under the supervision of the art therapist Petra Rosenkranz. In April 2024 she completed the Transpersonal Arts for Health and Wellbeing training, Tobias School for Art and Therapy, UK. Art therapy based on anthroposophy is her interest, so she has got further studies in anthroposophy in 2021, Anthroposophy Studies 28 Days of Insights, Goetheanum. In addition to her participation in the 22nd International Study days for Anthroposophic Art therapy, Dornach 2020.
In 2016, Radwa founded Hypatia initiative for kids and teenagers. She has designed and facilitated many camps based on the holistic education concept. In addition, she has facilitated art healing workshops for adults since 2021, and worked as an art facilitator and art therapist at Sekem group (Jun 2021 – Sep 2023).

Angela Katschke
Angela Katschke graduated as an art therapist from a German University in 1999. Since then she has been working in psychiatric, psychosomatic and psycho-therapeutic medicine with all age groups. Anthroposophy has been her source for deeper knowledge and guidance since 1993. Coming to South Africa she specialised in the field of art therapy for traumatised children living in unsafe and unstable communities. Angela founded the Butterfly Art Project in October 2010, an organisation bringing creativity and healing through art to children growing up in marginalised communities. She has developed several training modules for Community Art Facilitator training. In April 2022 she handed over leadership to find more time for consulting and training art therapeutic skills and organisational development.

Ruth Thiongo
Ruth is a Waldorf teacher for more that 15 years. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Early childhood Education and a Diploma in Waldorf Education. She is currently teaching at Jasiri Souls school (A Waldorf initiative) in Nairobi Kenya.
She is passionate about child development and teaching the young children in a creative way so as to meet their Developmental needs. She loves travelling and meeting new friends.

Richard Blake
Richard Blake is a co-founder of Motse Wa Badiri Training, Botswana. Where youth and young adults with special educational needs can find education, training and employment support. In 2012 he led a team that developed an Integrated Learning for Living and Work Programme which in 2019 won the UNESCO – Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development.

Cobie Roelvert
Cobie Roelvert is a eurythmist and adult educator. She teaches eurythmy in adult classes and workshops, at the Kairos Eurythmy Training and the Starseed Community school, all of these in Cape Town, and mentors new eurythmy teachers. She facilitates an Art of Creating Conversation schooling course and the How to Love course and is a member of the Active Practical Love Inititative in South Africa. She has been involved with the AAAT since 2017.

Casmir Msigwa
Casmir Msigwa is a trained Waldorf teacher. He is currently a member of the international forum for Steiner Waldorf Schools. He is also the Chairperson of the East Africa Association of Waldorf Steiner Schools. Besides all he is a class teacher at Hekima Waldorf School in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Joan Sleigh
Born and raised in a Camphill community in South Africa, Joan has been the Project Leader of the World Social Initiative Forum (WSIF), a global forum (network) of individuals, NGOs and institutions focussing on research and practice in questions of personal development, social change and human dignity. Joan has a background in Waldorf Education, as pupil, class teacher and teacher trainer in
Cape Town, and served as a member of the Executive Council of the General Anthroposophical Society in Dornach, for 7 years. She returned to Cape Town, studied an Executive MBA and graduated in leadership research and development. Alongside the WSIF, Joan is currently Head of the Bachelor of Education Faculty at the Centre for Creative Education, consulting in teacher education, adult selfdevelopment and authentic leadership practices.

Maaianne Knuth
Maaianne’s story bridges Europe and Africa in an arc that travels from Copenhagen, where she studied international business, to Zimbabwe, where she co-founded the learning centre, Kufunda. Core to Kufunda’s work is enabling rural communi9es to become strong, empowered agents of their own destiny. At Kufunda this work now includes a growing Waldorf inspired school for the local children, and biodynamic farming. Maaianne’s work in conscious dance, mindfulness, and creative process supports individuals in waking to who they are and what they can be within their communities.

Medicine. His focus is GI-Oncology, integrative supportive care and clinical research. He serves as the Head of the Department of Interdisciplinary Oncology and Palliative Care and the Center of Oncology at the Gemeinschaftskrankenhaus Havelhöhe, Berlin and as a member of the hospital management.

Naglaa Ahmed is a project manager in Heliopolis University, ART committee member in BFDI working in developing farmers in rural areas to convert to organic agriculture practices, activist in different sides of social development. 20 years experience in business development in food and beverage companies in addition to managing educational programs for agricultural technical schools students USAID project.

Kiki Sanne
Kiki Sanne worked as a vocational school teacher for English and agriculture in Germany. After a stay of several years in the 1990s, she moved permanently to South Africa in 2005. She has completed various training courses in coaching, education and nature- and equine assisted inner journeys. She works in a variety of areas as a coach, project manager and seminar leader and has been a mentor to a rural Waldorf School for more than 12 years. She had been heading Emergency Pedagogy in Johannesburg since 2017, has accompanied several emergency pedagogical missions by the Friends of Waldorf Education and Bernd Ruf and conducted training internationally.

Julia O'Leary
Julia O'Leary is an Eurythmy Therapist and Eurythmy Therapy Trainer
She has worked as a Waldorf teacher, Eurythmy teacher, High School Craft teacher and had a school of Art and Craft. She has worked with special needs and autism.
Julia trained in all the above as well as Extra Lesson = Audrey McAllen and Colour therapy - Liane Collot d'Herbois.and Bea van der Steen. She has a degree in Art, majoring in Sculpture and has a BA in Dance (Eurythmy) and Eurythmy Therapy Diploma.
The focus of her work is to remove obstacles out of the child's way and especially to help where there is trauma, illness and developmental delay.

Owner and managing director of Organic Hill Farming Company Limited in Tanzania dealing with organic extension services on Push Pull technologies and horticulture production. I am an expert in agribusiness as well as biodynamic agriculture engineering trained at Sokoine University of Agriculture, Heliopolis University and Sekem Farm (EBDA) under Angela Hofmann who I will also co-facilitate in preparation of Biodynamic Agriculture Workshop. Having background in both Economy, Agribusiness and Biodynamic Agriculture has equipped me with the right skills and knowledge to find solutions which face the majority of African farmers.

Angela Hofmann
Originating from Germany, my biodynamic journey began in Switzerland and Germany before leading me to Sekem in Egypt in 1982. There, I played a crucial role in converting desert land into a fertile biodynamic farm. Later I also joined the Egyptian Biodynamic Association, which helps farmers to convert to organic and biodynamic agriculture (today 6000 farmers).
My commitment to sustainable practices involves conducting organic and biodynamic trials, training programs for students and at the AAAT since its beginning, and actively contributing to African agricultural trainer development. I extend my influence across Asia, delivering lectures and workshops, particularly in Taiwan.

Allow me to introduce myself. Patrick Karanja is an esteemed Waldorf teacher with a remarkable 14year journey in shaping young minds in the East Africa region. This seasoned educator has left an indelible mark through diverse roles, including pivotal involvement in planning conferences for the broader Waldorf movement in the region. For the past four years, I have assumed the crucial role of Pedagogical Chair at the Nairobi Waldorf School Trust, leading the pedagogical team—a role equivalent to leading the college of teachers. In this capacity, I engage with teachers, students, the school board of trustees, and the school administration daily, ensuring the seamless operation of the school across educational, social, and various other dimensions. My commitment extends beyond the classroom, influencing the holistic functioning of the school. Currently, in the advanced stages of pursuing a master's degree in educational management and planning, I aspire to bring enriched insights to the field of Waldorf school leadership. My goal is to contribute to the enhancement of the AAAT training, particularly in the nuanced aspects of educational leadership within the Waldorf context. With a wealth of experience, a dedication to ongoing education, and a commitment to the Waldorf principles, I stand poised to make lasting contributions to the growth and excellence of Waldorf education in the East Africa region and the wider regions in Africa.

As a member of the board of our association, I am familiar with board work for many years.
